I Agree, not Beleive

February 4th, 2010 § 0

Is it just me, or am I wrong is saying that you cannot believe or not believe in evolution; you can only Agree or Disagree with it.
I feel the term “Belief” is more appropriate when used to associate with philosophy/myth/fantasy and the like, where the subject of discussion is not grounded in physical reality.

You can believe in Santa Clause, or believe in the tooth fairy. You can believe that people are generally more good than evil. You can believe in the sanctity of marriage. You can believe in an afterlife.

All these things you can believe if you are so inclined to while having no way of affirming them as pure fact other than your own faith in the principle.
Evolution, on the other hand, is a scientific theory, based on observation, analysis and scientific deduction. It is not a belief system. It has tangible physical evidence of its validity and is open to proper scientific discussion and scrutiny.

Therefore I feel it odd and inappropriate when anyone questions why I believe in Evolution. I don’t believe In Evolution… I Agree with it.

Kiva Flash Badge 2.0

December 18th, 2009 § 0

Just upgraded the Kiva Flash badge.
You can know chose which types of loans should appear on the badge, adjust the width/height of the badge so it fits better on your site, and even chose to have a transparent background for the flash object so it can blend in better with the rest of your site.

Boranishtador

December 12th, 2009 § 0

if i were to ever name a town this is what i would call it. Residents of Boranishtador would be called Boranishtadors, while really really hoping that people would call them Boranishtadorians instead.

why? what the hell is a Boranishtador? are you high? why is your punctuation so irregular?
… are some questions that might be going through your mind at the moment.  but no.. rest assured i am in of sound mind as i write this. Its just a funny word.

i’ve come to realize that everyone once in a while out of the blue weird and often funny and nonexistent words just pop into my head for no apparent reason.  also i like to name things.  boranishtador is just the latest one.  in the past i’m pretty sure i’ve come up with many other words. unfortunately since i never bothered to write any of ‘em down, they are now all but forgotten.  (other somewhat recent examples i can remember… humsara – this site, languini – a language notebook app i’m working on, blindcurves – the first domain i bought in hopes to setup a design blog, flashanatomy – was supposed to be my flash development blog, nerdystrophy – a blog for everything nerdish ) ( of course my distaste for writing prevented me from ever letting either of the blog sites to take off, )

from now on i will be making more of an effort to write things down and simply write more.

by the way.. don’t bother asking me to name your kids (god forbid)… my brain doesn’t like working for anything useful or practical.

We Love Kiva

August 6th, 2009 § 2

Kiva BadgeThe first thing I chose to work on after relieving me from my self inflicted social exile, was a flash badge for Kiva lenders.  I had other projects in mind, some which I had started designing and even implementing (although far too prematurely), but none of those kept my interest as much as it was kept while working on a simple Flash Badge for Kiva.  Now mind you; there is nothing special about this little tool as  there are other similar (if not exactly the same) out there already in existence.  But somehow this little supposedly insignificant project was able to hold my attention far greater than so many of my other ideas, which at some point in my mind lived in a far greater esteem than they do now.

Anyways.
Presenting the Kiva badge… a little tool to help you advertise your loans on your website.

Far too much time is wasted pondering where so much time has gone.
